This is Tori, a character who will be appearing in DES Comics [link] . This is a drawing I actually hope to use in an upcoming comic, though it's incomplete for that.

That thing she's holding is a stick of drawing charcoal, and those marks on her are also charcoal (those things are messy to work with). She's in the middle of explaining something she's drawn in this image.

This character has existed for years in my sketchbooks and has been drawn in various styles with various haircuts; it will be nice to actually have her in comics.

Holy crap she's so freaking adorable! I want to squeeze her and love her and ~ Pfweeee! >w<

The hairstyle reminds me of Joyce from Joyce and Walky. That's such a cutie, too. :3

Very cute. And it's a good thing you pointed out that it was charcoal, because the way she's holding it, it looks like a black cigarette. ;P

You know...I'm amazed by the how much of her personality this image look to be leaking out. I'm in shock Dan, since such a skill was not something I was thinking you could do at this point in time...

I've got pretty flexible fingers, but even mine don't bend as much as that thumb. My guess is there shouldn't be more than a 15-20 degree angle, at most, on the inside and about 5 degrees at the outside (where the nail is) between the first and second half of the thumb, and curved instead of an immediate change of angle but you already had that part pretty much right.

Hope that helped... I know your skills are good enough to find the above out yourself, but I know it's harder to find your own errors than to find someone else's.

As for the charcoal; I could see the smudges on her shoulder coming from raising up her... vest? (I'm bad at naming clothing in Dutch, nevermind English). On her cheek could've been an itch, though I'm surprised her nose is still clean xD

For the rest; good pic ^_^

You captured her intensity for her work quite well. If anything I'd say she's so dedicated that she may not believe that the person listening to her really has the passion or talent to understand what she's saying. ^^; It's almost a look of frustrated arrogance. (A look many people find themselves with. XP )

In any case it's very well done. Though there's some kind of irony in that she's done in charcoal and discussing just such a drawing. (In the ironic sense of the word irony, though the alternate definition is pretty much standard nowadays.)
