Some Comic of Mine 002 by DanShive Some Comic of Mine 002 by DanShive
DES Comics Folder

Why do I have the numbers with three digits? It's a weekly comic for a college newspaper. It would take over two years for that to be an issue o_O

In any case, this is the second comic, and is actually part 1 of a 3 comic mini-story. Since, as has been said, this is for a weekly paper, the next two comics will work on their own as well, but be funnier when put together.

The basis for this story is the fact that I'm currently going to a university where many majors are taught, which means there is a variety of stuff in the school store that you might not commonly encounter elsewhere. It can be tempting to acquire things that have nothing to do with one's major.

And yes, I actually was tempted to buy a stethoscope as I thought that might be cool to have for some reason. I honestly have no idea what I'd use one for, however, so it has yet to happen.

Lab coats are also tempting, as I wuv the mad scientist look ^^;

I've been there, and I have the aviation goggles to prove it.

I once bought a lab coat for halloween. If I'm not mistaken, it's still hanging in my closet, covered in bloody hand-prints.

I actually *did* buy a lab coat for a chem lab, it was either that or a vinyl apron, and I think we all know which one is cooler...

For me, the most tempting section of the University bookstore has always been the art section. So many pencils, pens, paper, little poseable wooden guys, paints, etc...

A lab coat must be an absolute necessity for any student - it's the safe bet for any one going to see the Rocky Horror Show and what student has never been to the Rock horror Show?

Of course, stockings and suspenders are always better at at such and event :-)

I'm liking the smaller eyes. It makes me wonder what EGS would be like if all the charries had small eyes.

I too know the siren call of a lab coat. Luckily for me, I found one at a local thrift store for $6. :D

Aww man...that's a pretty awesome bookstore to have an entire stethescope right there...of course, Medical Supplies aren't on high demand at a TECH school, so that might explain our lack of said cool items...

Bah...I wouldn't trade my school away for stethescopes though...or an awesome bubble pipe.

Stephoscopes were origionaly invented by the Otomans as a means of finding hiden bunkers in enemy fortreses. You ever see those movies where people listen in the walls with stephoscopes? I hear a lot of people complaining "THat dosn't realy work." "That's totaly fake." "That's not what they were made for." "What a load of ******." :evileye: I actually want to laugh at them, as that IS what they were invented for. If anything, medical use is the non-intended function of the design.

Heh, I'm such a geek... ~_~ My first thought on "I honestly have no idea what I'd use [a stethoscope] for" was "It tells you the HP and status of any monsters when you apply it, and you can do it for free once a turn."

...NetHack. Yeah. ~_~

the whole last panel could have been a picture of a bunch of bananas, with text "BANANAS" superimposed in foreground. It also would have worked.

Perhaps the university store downtown sells them....

You know, I can see a type of story sorta start to form from this.

And I mean in the way that Calvin and Hobbes built a storyline.

Damn... I want a lab coat of my own!

I'm at a tiny school, and the ones hanging outside of the organic lab are really sketchy at this point...

I did buy a stethoscope at a student bookstore in Paris, and it was funny to find it in a bookstore :P
But I guess with my parents being doctors and all, I've always had one at home, and moving out of my parents and not having one was... Like not having a first-aid kit, or something.
It's pretty useful if you know how to use it.
Couldn't find anywhere to buy a real human skull, though. I'll have to find a way to convince my parent to lend me Arthur.

I've actually done that before. I bought a lab coat from the U store, dyed it blue, and wrote "Science Rules!" on the back in black marker. I felt like a secret infiltrator in the med school section of the store.
