Normally I avoid doing anything remotely resembling work on Christmas short of basic help outs cleaning and dealing with emergencies should they arrive, but I didn't practice drawing on Christmas Eve, so I had to today. This image of Leela from Futurama is the festive (well, sorta) result.

I've wanted to draw Leela for a while, but that huge eye is intimidating. I think she turned out OK considering it was me drawing her.

I'm aware that her hair looks fairly different from the show, but the show cheats it like crazy to make her look better. It effectively IS parted on both sides on the show, switching sides depending on where she's facing. I'm not complaining, but that leaves her bangs wide open to interpretation when drawn in other styles.

So, anyway, enough babble. It's Christmas, and it's LEELA! YAY!

I'm surprised my friend Dani hasn't commented on this image yet. SHe's a major fan of Futurama, and especially Leela (I'll leave it to her to tell you on of her Screennames). :P I'm gonna have to link her to this next time she's on.

Perhaps it is in fact a conscious decision by Leela herself to downplay her big eye....
(or that's what the writers/artists tell themselves)

I like the part! It's new and nifty :D I feel like she could beat me up. Which she can.

Fantastic work. In fact, even in the audio comentaries they mention they would try to avoid drawing her from that angle, simply because it's really hard to do.

Now, maybe one day, I can get around to drawing my favorite crustation with an MD.
