I was told to animate something for my cartooning class. I found this odd, because up to that point I had the impression that the class wasn't about animation. I'm still left wondering why this was assigned and what we were supposed to gain from it relative to the objectives of the class, but whatever.

I had originally wanted to animate Grace from my El Goonish Shive comic transforming into her non-horned Omega form, and even drew six very sketchy key frames for it. I then remembered that we hadn't actually been taught how to properly animate characters and would have to teach myself how to do so over the course of many days with time I don't have, so here's animated goo done entirely in flash instead.

In the end, I like this animation. I don't get why it was assigned, but I like it.

Very amusing... and definitely more... unusual than the average flash animation I run into (not that that number is necessarily all that high, but praise is due none the less). I have to admit that even if it's not Grace transforming it's still a rather amusing reference (even if this Goo looks a bit different from the old Goo) to El Goonish Shive... or I am I just seeing things that I want to see when there's nothing actually there?... Meh. Either way it's a good animation, and it's kinda cute/funny. Also, while I am likely to have even less of an idea than you as to why your class assigned this, it's possible that the teacher is planning to take the class in a different direction or some such activity that involves animation, and this was supposed to be some kind of gauge as to how good the class was overall... but I could be completely off. I have no real idea. Or any way of knowing.

I am curious as to the nature of this Goo... is it Poison Goo, Radioactive Goo, Environmentally Unfriendly Goo, or TG Goo... I mean there is a whole family of Goo's out there.

But... it is an adorable goo... I'll say that.

Goo is awesome. I thank you for picking the topic of animating goo.

Also, even if there's nothing really to gain (other than experience), wasn't it fun to make? :)
